Christy Amschler (1970-2017) was a feminist lesbian and dedicated artist, astrologer, and photographer. She received formal training in painting and drawing, before going on to continue her education in women’s spirituality, religion, and philosophy. These materials include many of her drawings, photography, 35mm photo slides of her finished paintings, and papers from her academic pursuits of painting and spirituality; as well as personal photographs of her family and friends, journals, and notes.

Read MoreMargarethe (Grethe) Cammermeyer had a career as military nurse that included distinguished service in Vietnam, work for the Veterans Administration, and a position as Chief Nurse of the Washington National Guard. As a result of her statement in an interview for top security clearance that she was a lesbian, she was separated from the military in 1992. She successfully challenged her discharge and the military’s regulations that mandated that lesbians and gay men be separated from the service. The collection contains her personal, professional, and activist materials including correspondence, legal documents, photographs, videotapes, ephemera and other materials related to her her discharge and challenging the military’s anti-gay regulations.

The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence and materials related to her literary and academic works.
